Mission, Vision, and Values
What Adira stood for, and why.
-
A world where people with neurodegenerative diseases and their caregivers live fully.
-
To invest in better lives for people living with neurodegenerative diseases.
-
Six values guided every grant, every conversation, and every decision Adira made.
Our Values
Agreement to work together towards common goals.
Fundamental to how we worked, we formed meaningful alliances to identify solutions, mobilize funds, and invest in actions that helped people living with neurodegenerative diseases lead better and more connected lives. Our success was driven by our ability to build relationships, break silos, and connect across teams, functions, and geographies.
The quality that enables one to face danger, fear, or change with self-possession, confidence, and resolution. It fosters creativity and innovation.
Daily we looked uncertainty and seemingly insurmountable challenges in the eye.
Our right as human beings to be loved, valued, and held in high regard.
Adira was a "people first" organization. We were mindful that all people, especially those most impacted by neurodegenerative diseases, were valued as experts for their lived experience just as other stakeholders were valued for their career experience.
The practice of including and integrating all people and all groups.
We believed everyone had an important voice and point of view. We sought input from all team members, from diverse groups, sectors, and industries. We particularly sought those points of view from people typically left behind, unheard from, or who experienced prejudice and discrimination of any kind.
Having strong ethical principles that are followed at all times.
We were admired and respected for our commitment to honesty, trust, accountability, and transparency.
Admiration for others for who they are, but also for what they have done and what they do. Treating others as we would want to be treated.
We worked hard to earn the respect of each other, our collaborators, our donors, and especially the people most impacted by neurodegenerative diseases. Respect built trust, which bred the collaboration vital to strengthening our work, teams, and impact.
